Issues on Internet-based Teleoperation

چکیده
This paper describes experiments of Internet modeling and of Internet-based teleoperation aimed at developing control laws to overcome the variable time-delay and data losses typical of Internet communication. From a control perspective, Internet is shown to be characterized by mean and jitter of the data packets delay, and by packet losses. Furthermore, these parameters depend on the number of nodes traversed by the packets and on the speciic network traac. The eeects of packet delay jitter and losses on teleoperation performance are demonstrated using a 2-dof force feedback teleoperation master.

متن کاملSupermedia in Internet-Based Telerobotic Operations
In the past decade robotics and the Internet, fed by the great advances in computing and networking, matured into giant interdisciplinary scientific fields. Therefore, it is not surprising that many are trying to merge these two technologies and develop Internet-based robotic teleoperation. More interestingly, Internet-based bilateral teleoperation, where supermedia is fed back to the operator ...
متن کاملHaptic Information in Internet-Based Teleoperation
Many tasks done easily by humans turn out to be very difficult to accomplish with a teleoperated robot. The main reason for this is the lack of tactile sensing, which cannot be replaced by visual feedback alone. Once haptic devices were developed, their potential in many fields was obvious. Especially in teleoperation systems, where haptic feedback can increase the efficiency and even render so...
متن کاملQos Based Control of Teleoperation via Internet
Abstract: This paper presents an QoS (quality of service) based control system of teleoperation via the Internet. Quality of service on the Internet refers to a set of quality requirements on the performance of the data transmission necessary to achieve the required functionality of an application. The quality of data transmission via the Internet is measured or reflected by a set of QoS parame...

The Internet is a very fast evolving new technology, allowing people to electronically connect to places that are thousands of miles apart. By combining network technologies with the capabilities of mobile robots and manipulators, Internet users can discover and physically interact with far-away places thereby, creating opportunities of resource sharing, remote experimentation and long-distance...
